This past weekend Amy and I got away for our 23rd anniversary. We didn’t go to a fancy hotel or take a long walk on the beach. But we did see some of the cool sites of Jupiter.
We climbed to the top of the light house and looked over North Palm Beach County. I must say that our legs were on fire by the time we reached the top! After our descent from the high tower we cooled off with a tall bottle of cool water under the shade trees. Our next adventure came on Sunday morning.
Do you like gators, turtles, fish, Cypress trees and a smooth moving river? At nine o’clock we loaded up the canoe and started our relaxing river trip. We learned something very important: to get to where we wanted to go it was going to take us working together during the journey.
Minutes turned to hours as we dodged huge spiders, fallen trees over our path, and underwater logs that would bring us to abrupt stops. We had to do some very unconventional things to keep the journey going…but it was worth it! Then we decide to turn around and go upstream to where we started. We were now going against the flow…it was work!
We had to keep on paddling to keep the momentum moving forward and once one of us stopped paddling then the current would take us back down stream. Going against the flow is always hard work, in life, at our jobs and in our faith.
Journey Church we are going against the flow…
God’s heart for Jupiter and PBC is for everyone to find a restored love, hope and passion for life through a personal relationship with him. I think we all know this to be true and if we have experienced His love and grace on a personal level, we can’t help but want to share it with others.
Let’s keep journeying together, working together to see God’s message of hope reach as many people as possible. There will be times that we will be doing very unconventional acts of kindness, service and reach events…but it is all for bringing God’s love and grace to those who are have not heard or experienced His everlasting kindness.
So, is the trip worth it? You bet it is…so let’s keep our eyes on the prize…keep working together to stay focused on: Passionately loving God, Unselfishly loving Other, and Compassionately serving the community.
