Standing on Solid Ground

There will always be questions about the future and what it holds. The real question is, what kind of future are we planning for?

Over the last few months we have seen that our financial futures are not as solid as we thought and we have many unanswered questions about: jobs, houses, and if there will be any economic recovery in the near future. These are just a few of areas that are bidding for our consideration.

All of these concerns are legit and deserve our attention to a certain point…but we must not forget where our hope comes from. Is our hope in life built on our money, health, and how much we get to enjoy our toys?

I don’t think so, and I know that most of you don’t think so as well. Let’s consider just for a moment some words that bring us into proper focus when it comes to security in life.

Psalm 18:2

We find in this short yet powerful passage what is real, sure and everlasting. No matter what we think we know… no matter what we hold onto in our hearts or with our hands for our security, it all falls short of meeting our greatest need of knowing that we can stand with confidence when life is sinking all around us.

Words that describe the confidence we can have when we are in relationship with God are: ROCK, FORTRESS, DELIVERER, REFUGE, SHIELD, STRENGTH, SALVATION and STRONGHOLD!!!

So as you read this passage and meditate on it, ask yourself this question. Is my hope in life based on who God is or in who I am?

Once we answer this question in a deep personal way we will know whether or not we are standing on solid ground. If we as follower of Jesus Christ don’t understand that God is our all in all, others won’t either.

Let’s take our stand on the solid rock, and help other find the same hope that we have during these times of uncertainty. Share your journey with someone who needs to find a place to stand that is solid.
